Quinton really really hates having a bath. In this video he growls the whole way through. His mom thinks it’s funny and even gets in his face a few times. Not a good idea with a growling dog. Watch and let me know what you think.

I agree, Cathy, not a good idea to get near the face of a growling dog, my Heidi also hates a bath and generally speaking water, but does not growl or snap or bark, she simply fights to get out from the moment her paws touch the water until the time I pick her up to dry her. so bathtime is a nightmare.

Most dogs don't like baths or nail clipping either. My dogs will tolerate it and don't fight me on it but they don't like it. I always give them a treat when we are done so they do like that part.

Seems that Quinton hates the drying off more than the soap up and scrub of the bath. I wash my chi mixes the same way in good warm water in the tub. But my dry off is different. I get my pup dogs out and into a nice bath towel and hold them on my lap while I sit on the edge of the tub. It worked when they were very young and they still are liking it. I also praise them in a soft happy voice. I noticed this gal remained pretty quiet the whole time. A little praise might be reassuring to Quinton that all is well.

What should one do differently? My male bit me when he was just a puppy during a bath and now I am very afraid of bathing him and try to get my husband or son to do it. I don't want to fell this way and his biting seems to have stopped but I am still afraid. HE BITES HARD! And I bleed.

Maybe get a muzzle to put on him while bathing and/or get a tranquilizer from the vet.

You may need to get a vet to do them. Or at the very least, get a vet to prescribe some tranquilizers so you can do them safely at home. You can also get a grooming sling to help with the grooming. You can find them at Amazon here: https://amzn.to/42R5qCh

I think it’s very dangerous for her to put her face to his when he is growling the way he is.
