Ok do you have a Chi with an attitude like this guy? What advice would you give the pet parent about him?

My boy acts like this, but more aggressively. He was 10 when I got him. I just pick him up. He snarls and nips, but showing no fear is best. He settles right down after I pick him up. I am very matter of factly with him. He tends to be more suspicious and then more aggressive if I coddle him during his bad behavior. He can be a real love bug, but if he thinks he can control the room he acts out.

I'm glad you have stuck with him Diane. Many would have dumped him in a shelter because of his aggression.

My first rescue chi was like this....it is totally a trust issue! Just sit next to him quietly w your hand on The couch. He will get used to your being there and eventually come sniff your hand or sit next to you....dont pet him the first couple of times, and just speak softly. You have to be patient. Coming at him from over his head to pet him obviously makes him nervous. It took about a month....but I am now my fur baby's "person" and he can't get enough pets, snuggles and even lets me pick him up and kiss his nose!

Minor Usually puts his ears back when he’s nervous about something. I would try sitting beside him and encouraging to come and receive treat they he likes. I have a chihuahua now but had a terrier that exhibited similar behavior. Once we earned her complete trust she was our loyal companion for the next 13 years

Yeah it just takes time and patience. They usually will come around if they are treated well.

My little guy has a sweet loving cuddles personality. Our problem is he suddenly wether awake or a sleep jumps up and runs to hide like u.see the bed or behind a recliner or whatever. And may stay for a little while or for hours. Vets haven't given us any answer we wonder if he is in pain or? We have tried about 5 different bets. Please help if you can.

Could he see an insect and be afraid of it? Some dogs are for some weird reason. Other than that, I have no idea. Dogs do see in different ways than we do so maybe he is seeing something we can't see?
