My favorite part of going on Facebook is to see all the beautiful Chihuahua’s of the hour.
In the past never wanted a dog and a Chihuahua was the least favorite of all dogs to me.
One day on my way home from work, a beaten, abused, neglected Chihuahua ran out of a bush in front of my car. He had no fur, weighed under (2) pounds and for a minute I thought he was a rodent. He picked himself up with the last bit of energy he could muster and walked towards the car. I put my car in park, got out and scooped him up.
I called my Vet (I had 4 cats), he opened the office, never expecting to see what he saw. Fleas were crawling in and out of this little fellows body and mouth. His eyes were covered with a white film from infection, his ears were deeply impacted with dirt, no fur, multiple fractures throughout his body, his throat had a long scar going across it as if someone had took a knife to it, all his teeth were rotted and to be honest we both thought he would not make it through the night.
Well he made it and gave me the (3) most wonderful years of my life. He taught me many life lessons that no human on earth could ever do. He loved me unconditionally, and although he was a very scrappy ugly dog that proudly held the nickname Junkyard he became a legend at his Vets office. Everyone knew him and thought he was beautiful.
My one wish for Pepito (his real name) was that he would have the best life possible for his remaining years and that God would take him from me peacefully. Towards the end of his days, Pepito and I sat up many long evenings due to his arthritic pain and cuddled.
One morning I got up and told him I had to go to the dentist and that when I came home I would take him out side to play. When I arrived home I took him out and he just stood in the front yard looking at me and turning his head around looking at his home and play area. He then came to me and I gently picked him up and told him how much I loved him and that I had faced the fact that he would be leaving me soon, but I promised I would find a little puppy that looked just like him.
When he watched me from the rainbow bridge he would see what our life together would have been like had I found him sooner. I took him inside laid him in his basket and he stopped breathing. I held him for (3) hours and sobbed for myself and then took him to the Vet. The entire staff surrounded me and my family and we cried happy that Pepito was able to leave this world loved.
But his story did not end there. I attempted to keep my promise and spent (3) months, trying to find a Chihuahua puppy that looked just like him. One evening when I got on Facebook a friend sent me a picture of a tiny little female Chihuahua and thought that perhaps I may be interested in her.
I e-mailed he back saying are you crazy, this little girl is everything Pepito wasn’t. He was a boy, he was black, she was white, he was a deer head she was an apple head…
Well I could not get her off my mind and took the 2 1/2 hour trip to clam her as mine. I had all her records sent to my Vet and two weeks later took her in for her first checkup.
My Vet said, “Denise when I got her records, I had the girls look up some data on Pepito.. Do you realize, this little girl was born on the exact day you found Pepito and was sent to the shelter on the day he died!! I believe Pepito chose the dog he wanted you to love in his place.”

My Chica was a white little chi that I loved so much, like you I never wanted a Chihuahua. She made me hers. I was bereft when I lost her, I don't think I have ever loved a dog so much. When I started looking and cute little red Chi girl was left in a crate at the door of a Vet Clinic. They had her 3 months with no takers. I really thought I wanted another white Chi, went 3 other shelters to look at dogs. I could not get her cute little face out of my head. I went back and adopted her. I know Chica sent me her way.

you guy's are right there's nothing like a Chi. I just got mine and I wouldn't take anything for this rotten little girl., She will be the most spoiled dog on the planet, she's only 5 months old, she has a cowgirl hat a sweater to match, a new coat with a hood on it, of course all in pink, next she get's some boots, now the trick is to get her to wear them, wish me luck.
