I live in Ontario, Canada and this past June I adopted a Papillon/Chihuahua from Texas and she is the best thing that has happened to me ever. For the past 25 years I have had medium to large dogs, but this one is so different. She is so full of life. She is just over 1 year of age, white with caramel blotches. Her name was Missy, but once I saw her picture on Adoptapet I knew once I got her I would change her name to Destiny for various reasons. She came from a rescue in Texas called Texaschihuahuarescue.org. Please, anyone wanting a chihuahua check out this site. There are so many lovely dogs needing forever homes.

We adopted 2 siblings-brother-sister from Texas Chihuahua Rescue Ontario branch 2 years ago & they area great pets!

I have Sugar a chocolate and white 14 yr old short hair chi. Previously I had Chico a Black and Tan(like a Doberman markings) chi who lived to 18 yrs and previous to him I had Paco a beige short hair who lived to 9 yrs and because of her illness I will always have my chi’s spade or neutered as long as I don’t breed them. I only have one at a time to give all my love.

I can’t pick only one favorite, I tried. They are all my favorite. I h ave one Chi, a 9 year old handsome boy, that is my best friend, companion and heart throb. He was a rehome baby. From her place, right into my heart. 6 lbs of love, devotion, and loyalty , he shows me everyday. Such a good boy that goes anywhere and everywhere with me. He makes my life whole. There is no way, I can say how much I love him.

Oh, I cannot pick the best pic of sweet chis. They are so beautiful and the different colors are perfect. This is the pic I have had on my computer for many years and I do love the little chibaby and the statement is so true. Every satuday morning i open my ipad to “i love my chi” . It makes me smile before i have to conquer the rest of my emails. I currently have 3 rescue dogs in different stages of distress. One blind with diabetes, one 14 rescued from a puppy mill raid , and my doxie – chi , who had a terrible accident which led to a year and a half of intense rehab to get her in a walker. Happy to report, despite these developements , they are all happy and make my life wonderful.
However , i lost the love of my life , Booberry, a geogeous white deerhead chi to tracheal collapse. As you can see i am busy but i so miss my chi. I miss the constant discussions we had where he would look into my eyes and let me know it would be allright. There is nothing like a chi and i would like to rescue another soon . I dont know how to start because i cant turn away any dog away so how do i narrow my search to chi’s. Help!

I’m so sorry you lost your Booberry (great name)! Chis are so intuitive and special, they leave a big hole in our heart when they pass.
We do have a post https://ilovemychi.com/how-to-find-a-chihuahua-rescue/ but that may not help you with focusing on just chihuahuas. So before you go to any rescue or shelter, call and see if they have any chis and tell them that’s all you are interested in and all you want to see.
Google chihuahua rescues for your area too.
Thank you for listening. I have reached out to a few local groups and hope to have a chi for the holidays. It will happen when it happens , just like every other dog who has come into my life. Ive been such a lucky dog mom.

I think I do have a favorite. I just totally love the pic of the chi and chi daddy in the pool and the sweet tiny chi is giving the chi daddy a kiss and it says ” BLESSED IS THE PERSON WHO HAS EARNED THE LOVE OF A CHI”. I have always loved that pic and how tiny that fur baby is!! I am a full fledged chi lover!!!

In a world that seems to be self imploding, and a job with customers losing their cool on you….i come home and sit with my 2 chi’ s and pit (all rescues) and get a message of love from you and somehow the day has gotten better. Thank you for taking your time to post new uplifting messages of.hope.

Oh my! So many great ones! Hard to choose. I liked the Blessed one, the Elvis Presley one and the one about dogs and humans with little white chi’s. Can’t pick one. I’m leaning toward the blessed is one who has earned love from a Chi. Something like that. I loved almost every single one!

I like the “I share my toy with you” one,it happened to me once when I was crying because I didn’t have a lot of money for Sky,and when I cancelled her Bark Box subscription, she brought me one of her Bark Box toys,and it was like she was saying, “You may not have more Bark Boxes,but I have plenty of toys already,and it’ll be okay.” (Queen)Sky is a chihuahua and Newfoundland mix and 15,but expected to live 2 more years. Both of my dogs are healthy.

That’s something we need to learn from our dogs, just exist and live in the moment.
