I love watching Chihuahuas sleep. Especially my Chihuahua. But all Chi’s are fun to watch. They look like little angels when they are sleeping, don’t they?

Join me in looking at some adorable sleeping Chihuahuas.

As usual, when I know who the pet parent is and/or the dog’s name, I’ll include it under the photo.

    • I agree Dixie. They look like tiny angels when sleeping.

  11. My Dove. I can’t resist how adorable she is when she’s sleeping. Most of the time I wake her up trying to get a picture.

    • Oh my gosh, she really is simply adorable Faye!

  12. I had a horrible experience with my 2 chi with vaccinations. Both did need not rabies what ever the other group is. Both dogs pass out walking on the deck to go out. Just fell over life less. I immediately revived them and knew it was the vaccinations. Since then they get Benadryl and the least amount required by law.
Personally I was so angry but it all worked out. Do you know that the same rabies dose Mastiffs gets they give to our Chihuahuas. I was alarmed at this news. So my vet spaces them out over a month. It is really insane and people are letting the associations know it. But nothing has changed over years!

    • Yeah I did know that about the amount and I’ve had vets argue with me that it doesn’t make any difference but if that were true, so many small dogs wouldn’t be having such bad reactions to the vaccines.

    • Five years ago I lost my prescious and beloved Henry due to overvacination. He came home and slowly during the evening he began to have a zoned out look in his eyes for a bit, then he began to stumble and I held him and cried and he lost control of his bodily functions and I cleaned him, wrapped him in a towel and sat with him all night and kept him the next day. Just holding him and cleaning him, feeding him. I kept him one more night then had to have him put down the next morning. I called him “Little Bones”. It was a horrible nightmare experience that did not need to happen.

    • @Dixie, O my God, 🤭 I am so so sorry you had to go through that, my heart goes out to you, may your baby rest in peace, and you be blessed with peace also xx

  13. So, I guess I have a healthy respect for the power of immunization as well as trust in my Vets.

I make decisions about each vaccine on a case by case basis after hearing what my Vet has to say. I then look at risk vs. reward and decide. With puppies – I, too, have split up the shots.

Leptospirosis is one that can cause issues in dogs under 10 lbs . . . and I was told that it’s the second shot that often causes the issue – but that a severe reaction would occur with 30-40 minutes.

Unfortunately, Southern Ohio has been a hotspot for Lepto – according to my vet. So, I opted to give it to all 3 of my dogs since it’s been available. For my two 5 pounders, I hung out at the Vets for half an hour after the the 2nd shot. And gave Benadryl also – but when I got home.
As background, my Dad and both of my Grandpas were MD’s. Papa’s bedtime stories often included “fun facts about physiology and diseases.” Also, I was born in 1952. I remember fear of polio paralysis – went to school with a girl who wore a leg brace. Until I got the Salk polio shot at age 3, I was not allowed to go to swim in anything other than a backyard pool for fear of contagion! I guess I have a healthy respect for vaccines and understand odds. So far so good. I would feel far worse if I did not inoculate and my pup picked up parvo or canine influenza . But that’s just me. Blessings. Love the sleeping doggies!

    • I know, it’s so hard to know what the right thing to do is with vaccines. I know they can save lives. So far, I have let them have the core vaccines but always wonder if I’m doing the right thing.
I’m a little too young to remember all the stuff about polio but I remember my mother telling me about it. So sad for all those kids that came down and had their lives ruined by polio.

  14. Golly – maybe Im fortunate. Or have “Littles”
With strong constitutions! Both my Littles came home, had light suppers (not very interested) curled up and slept.

I worry about dehydration with Gigi, my Chi. She just rarely laps up any water. So, I will take a syringe (no needle) and squirt low sodium chicken broth in her mouth about 10 cc’s at a time. I can tell right away if she is dehydrated. Energy is low and eyes sink into her head. I never want to take chances with dehydration.

  15. This is one of my favorite pics of Dove. She is so sweet.

    • What a precious little chi!

  16. Those sleeping babies are so cute!!

    • Yes they are. They look so innocent, don’t they?

    • I’m so sorry you lost your Fiona Margaret.

  22. To answer your question, my dogs only have yearly checkups. My Vet is
very good and he knows if I notice something off with my babies I will call him immediately for an appointment.

  25. I loved the sleeping Chihuahuas!
I buried one of my chihuahuas and I had one cremated. I keep his remains in a lovely little wood box with a picture of him on the front. I like that better.
    Priscilla

    • Glad you liked the sleeping chis Priscilla.

  26. Thxz for sharing
    I love my chi also

  27. Cathy , I’m so glad you are doing good , and getting outside is good for the soul . Diego is 6 months old now, and his ears still don’t stand up . I talked with the breeder , and was told to tape his ears . What is the general opinion of doing this to a dog ? Your sleeping babies was too cute .

    • Taping can work, but it doesn’t always. It is uncomfortable for the dog and they will often try to get the tape off. If it were my pup, I’d just let them stay floppy. He will still be adorable either way.
