I like the one about black dogs. It’s sad but true my Jachi was the only black one from a litter of three and the owners gave her away because the other two were brown.

I have 4 Chis, just recently lost one we’d had for 16 yrs. Our hearts yearn for her presence always!! We love our Chis unconditionally and they really are family!! R.I.P. sweet Gypsy!! We will never forget you!!

I know how you feel and I’m sorry. A pit bull that was supposed to be kept up came into my yard and attacked my Cooper. I started fighting the pit bull and had a heart attack. My chihuahua was killed. My heart was broken(literally).

Winston, my heart goes out to you and to Anonymous on such terrible loses of two wonderful gifts from above. I and my daughter watched helplessly as a pit bull ripped my daughters furbaby apart. We were also bitten but the little chi was literally torn off his entire side. We took him to the Emergency Aminal Clinic as it was on Sunday. The vet put pain meds in an IV. The furbaby was in shock and was not crying but later that evening the vet called us and we could hear him screeming. The vet said there were no stronger pain killers she could give him and what did my dauhter want to do. We talked about it and I told her that considering his horrible pain and the fact that his entire left side was gone, maybe the best thing would be to have him euphanised so he would not hurt anymore. We told the vet but ask her to wait until we got there and we looked at his little body torn to bits. My daughter held his right paw and he passed quickly and was at peace with no more pain. My daughter had him creamated and put into a beautiful urn that sits on her mantle next to 2 other urns from past loses. That attack was the worst thing either of us had ever seen in our lives. That was 5 years ago and the pictures in my mind are still vivid. My daughter suffers from Post Tramatic Stress. She had been bitten severly but healed, Hearts do not heal as quickly as hands. Anonymous, you and Winston be strong and remember all the good times and the happy play times and in a whole lot of time, you will begin to feel somewhat better. My sympathy to both of you!
My favorite is the one with the little white dog that says “a dog is the best thing that can mend a broken heart”.
That is actually a picture of my Dove. It was taken by my brother Charlie, and that’s Charlie’s hand in the pic.
The meme is perfect too, because Dove was such a comfort to us after our brother George passed unexpectedly. Here’s another pic taken the same day.
Dove has such a look of love and happiness on her face, no wonder she makes such a good meme.
I’m so sorry you and Charlie lost your brother George. That has to be rough.

I really love this website and everything you do. But sometimes it is hard for me to look at because I am the person who wants to save all the dogs (especially Chi’s). I would have a whole house full if I could but I have a husband who doesn’t want anymore dogs until the ones we have have left us. Which is understandable because we travel a lot and it is hard when you have 2 dogs and you are getting older. So, keep up the good work you do, it makes a lot of people happy.
Thanks Carol. I’m with you. I can see myself becoming that crazy old dog lady with a house full of dogs but I have to limit myself to 4 (one is my son’s) because I want to be sure I can financially support any pet that lives in my house.

Thank you. That is our Cookie. We got her as a rescue out of Los Angeles. She was in a hoarders house, she was about 4 or 5 years old and was only 2 1/2 pounds. We had to force feed her to get her to eat and it took a year before she waged her tail. But today, she is around 12 years 4 1/2 pounds and spoiled rotten. She loves to go to the beach and lay in the sun.
It’s amazing what love and care will do for them.

I just lost my boy who was 15 years 8 mos old. I was with him when he was born, I was with him when he died and I was with him when he was cremated. I went full circle. I had his mommy and his daddy in their only baby, my precious boy JoJo. My heart is still torn to shreds, empty and so lonely.

Warm up a little bone broth or low sodium broth and soak for a few minutes. That’s what I do.

I couldn’t believe when I found out Chi’s are the second most euthanized dogs behind pits. Can’t wrap my brain around it they are the best!

Yeah it is hard to understand but in a way I get it. Chihuahuas are tiny and cute and can be an impulse buy because of that. But they are also notoriously hard to house train and because of over breeding some of them are just psycho. So people just dump then in shelters instead of investing the time to train them properly.
Cathy, I love your newsletters. I love chihuahuas. I have one of my own. His name is Brownie. He just turned 15 in December. I’ve never planned on having any dogs, let alone a chihuahua. My son, being 10 years old at that time, adored the taco bell Chi. He decided to have one. He insisted to go to the petstore and showed me a little, black 1lb furball. I love dogs In general and I didn’t want to see him because I know my heart. Well…. Brownie stole my heart. He was not a rescue but he rescued me because I needed him at that time without me knowing it. It’s been 15 years, I love him so much, he choose me to be his owner. He is my little furbaby. I can’t imagine my life without him. He is very smart, doesn’t bark actually and he tolerates other people. I know one thing – he saved me when I needed him the most.

I cannot believe that chihuahuas are the second most put down breed. My heart bleeds with that fact. Any dog that has to be put down just because there are not enough people who really know what pet shops and puppy farms (or one in the same in most cases) are causing. I love my Chihuahua and BEG EVERYONE TO RESCUE RESCUE RESCUE…… thx Lisa

We have a lovely little Chihuahua 4.5 pounds, and she is a great dog. She will soon be 9 months old, and one of the best parts of our life!! We also have 2 Chihuahua mixes. And they make most of my days so good!! All of my dogs are rescues. The two older ones came from pretty bad situations. Now we are all a family. We are blessed.

All of them i have to say, that they are the best!!! Ill take them to the people right away. Mine is half terrier and chi. He will be four in November; i adore him and am so glad we rescued him. He is definitely my furbaby best friend.

My Luna was a black Chi that we rescued from the Humane Society back in 2017. She was my first dog and the love she showed me was so immense. I lost her this past June after she was hit by a car and didn’t survive. It has been very sad without her because I know I’ll never have another like her. I had always wanted a dog, but what she gave my family and I was more than a pet. She was sweet, playful, loving and just so warm. She’ll always have a very special place in my heart. Thank you for sharing these memes.

I saw something today that I have never seen before but I will do it in the future. A gentleman here in Tyler put a beautiful and loving obituary for his furboy who was a German Shepard. He also added a beautiful picture. WHAT A FANTASTIC IDEA and I could kick myself for not thinking of that when I lost my prescious Henry and Irene. A super way of paying respects to the best friend you will ever have!!!

I’m sorry the ads upset you. I’m not crazy about them myself. I spend more than 40 hours a week working on this site and though it’s a labor of love, I can’t live on love alone.
For over 20 years, I was in pain over the breakup of my marriage until I was gifted the best gift ever…my little chi, Abby. She helped me heal as she was a gift from God. Abby has since passed on, but chihuahuas are my preferred breed. My son has boxers and they guard my precious ones so they are my second preferred breed:-)
They do seem to have the knack for healing the heart. So glad you got your fur baby to help you.

Omg you made me cry but this is how l felt about my Bella & Brownie l miss them so much people don’t understand that it’s a wonderful gift to have this beautiful creatures in our lives
